Hey
there, I’m Guy Copland, the newest member of the Magic Family...
and would you
believe...I really can make “magic”...you’ll find out below!
I grew up in Royal Oak, and was “bit” by the radio and acting bug
early.
My dad is former WWJ-TV weatherman and announcer Hugh
Copland,
so I was the luckiest kid I knew...going to the television
station, getting
to hang out with Milky the Clown, Bozo and Oopsy.
Plus the guys in
the newsroom and up in the radio station were a big
inspiration for me.
During Jr. High and High School I did magic shows and performed in
community theatre (my mom really had her hands full).
After I graduated from Kimball High
School I toured around doing professional theatre, made
some commercials, and was an extra
cop in a Ninja movie. I then moved to Mississippi
where I started writing comedy bits and
doing character voices, had a morning show at WSTZ-FM
and toured clubs in the south doing
stand-up comedy and magic. About this time I got
married, and had my beautiful daughter
Victoria.
Then it was to north to Alaska to work on-air at
“K-Whale-FM”. After about two years of
dodging wild moose we went back to The Hospitality
State, Mississippi where I became a
, single dad. My daughter and I happily found a radio
home at WJDX-FM, then another home at
the Mississippi News Network where I was the
morning news anchor and reporter.
In February 2005, I returned to my true home...Michigan...to marry my former high school sweetheart, Diana. She & I, her two sons, my daughter, and our combined pets live in beautiful Berkley, where I have a creative services studio called Motor City Voice Over (www.motorcityvoiceover.com), and still perform as a magician. Oh yeah, and I’m also your 2007 Michigan State Fair Hog Calling Champion! Sooch-sooey!
So, now you know a little more about me. I’d love to hear from old
friends and new, so feel
free to drop me an email. Don’t forget...if you’re
looking for someone to make
“Magic”...you’ve found me!
